Define - Shaken Baby Syndrome: Shaken baby syndrome usually occurs when a parent or caregiver severely shakes a child in frustration or anger, often because the child won't stop crying. Permanent brain damage or death may result.

 

Signs of Shaken Baby Syndrome: symptoms include vomiting, bluish skin, tremors or shakes, breathing issues, and drowsiness. Babies may also become less interested in eating, have trouble sucking, and stop smiling and talking. You may notice bruises on the arms or chest in the places the baby has been grabbed.

 

How is the brain effected from Shaken Baby Syndrome:Shaken baby syndrome is a serious brain injury caused by forcefully and violentlyshaking a baby. This impact can trigger bruising in the brain, bleeding in the brain, and brain swelling. Other injuries may include broken bones as well as damage to the baby's eyes, spine, and neck.

Leo Ackley and Anthony Ball are separately charged with felony murder and first-degree child abuse for the deaths of their girlfriends' daughters. Attorneys for the men have teamed up to try to prove that the murder cases against Ackley and Ball are the results of overzealous prosecution based on the flawed science of Shaken Baby Syndrome
